Content

The 5-day programme consists of a combination of:

  • Relevant topics presented and discussed in a series of master classes facilitated by leading international experts;
  • A range of elective workshops offering additional insight into specific subjects, approaches and tools;
  • Structured knowledge-sharing opportunities, making use of interactive learning methodologies

Participants can customize their academy schedule and combine daily plenary sessions with elective courses in the morning and afternoon. Each participant will select two out of four elective courses according to her/his personal interest.

The plenary sessions include:

  • The nexus between employment, decent work, fragility and resilience (2 hrs)
  • Local economic recovery (2 hrs)
  • Assessing the impact of fragility on employment and livelihoods (1.5 hrs)
  • What is the role of employment policies in fragile settings? (1.5 hrs)
  • Reducing vulnerability: Social protection pathways in fragile contexts (1.5 hrs)
  • Empowering civil society, workers’ and employers’ organisations to overcome fragility (1.5 hrs)

The elective courses include:

  • Race to the bottom? Child labour, forced labour and downward spiralling working conditions (6 hrs)
  • Skilling up – A path out of fragility (6 hrs)
  • Enterprise and cooperative development in fragile settings: What works and why? (6 hrs)
  • Employment Intensive Investment – A means of upgrading infrastructure and injecting cash (6 hrs)

The academy will be facilitated by ILO specialists from the region, from ILO HQ and ITC-ILO, together with experts who can bring practical experience in the area of job creation in FCAS. The 5-days face-to-face academy will be supported by an e-campus, which will provide the participants with full access to the necessary tools, documents and methodologies.
