This course aims to improve the management of training centres, responding to the needs of the labour market, while maximizing internal and external efficiency. Modules, group work and participants' presentations relate to education/training; planning; organization; personnel management; quality control and impact evaluation; budgeting and financing, including the business plan and autonomy of training centres.

This course aims to improve the management of training centres, responding to the needs of the labour market, while maximizing internal and external efficiency. Modules, group work and participants' presentations relate to education/training; planning; organization; personnel management; quality control and impact evaluation; budgeting and financing, including the business plan and autonomy of training centres.

Target audience

Target audience

The course is aimed at the directors and staff of public and private training institutions; representatives of employers'/workers' organizations active in TVET; staff of ministries of labour and education (when dealing with technical education); other professionals dealing with HR development. A gender-balanced participation is sought.

Objectives

By the end of the programme, participants will have strengthened their technical knowledge as well as their analytical and managerial capacity to improve the functioning of vocational training centres. 

In particular participants will have:

• strengthened their understanding of management concepts;

• reviewed management of vocational training centers from a systemic perspective;

• examined management problems related to the different aspects of operating a vocational training center;

• analysed bottlenecks and challenges at the level of their own training centres;

• identified the main elements for an adequate and enabling environment for vocational training centres.

Content

Management concepts: a systemic approach and management of vocational training centres in the context of increasing institutional autonomy.

Leadership and staff development: management roles, management competencies, staff development.

Developing and managing the learning process: Skills needs anticipation, development of educational programmes, student management and social inclusion, monitoring evaluation and quality management.

Asset management: diversifying financial resources, developing a business plan, infrastructure and facility management.

The environment of a vocational training school: enabling and non-enabling factors, creating relationships with local industry and public-private partnerships, stakeholder management.

Analysis and priorities: analysing internal and external factors, identifying strengths and weaknesses, setting priorities.

During the course, the “Turin Learning Approach” will be applied: Dynamic, interactive and learner-centred methodologies will be used to convey contents and stimulate the exchange of experience. Lectures will alternate with practical exercises, discussions, group work, knowledge sharing methodologies, case studies and individual assignments.

The course language is English. Participants should have a good command of English and be able to understand written material and to freely engage in discussions.

• A completed registration form, which can be downloaded here

• An official “letter of commitment” issued by their organization (or a donor organization) stating that it will cover the cost of the course and the travel between the country of origin and the Turin Centre. 

Only candidates who present both, the online registration form and the sponsorship letter, will be accepted.
