Last January the Centre renewed a three-year agreement with the IEFP-IP / Portugal (Instituto do Emprego e Formação Profissional).
This included an annual fixed contribution to the ordinary budget of the Centre and a generous contribution for the implementation of training programmes for the development of the institutional capacity of the constituent members of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries /CPLP (Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe and Timor-Leste). The areas dealt with by these programmes will include employment promotion, skills development and vocational training, training in entrepreneurship and training of trainers, and will reflect both the training needs identified by the CPLP countries and ILO and ITCILO priorities.
On 29 June, the new training package for 2015 was launched at a ceremony in Lisbon. The high level event was held in the CPLP premises, with the participation of Ms. Patricia O’Donovan, Director of the Centre, Mr. Murade Murargy, Executive Secretary of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), Mr. Salimo Abdula, President of the Business Confederation of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CE-CPLP), Mr. João Tavares, President of Workers Union / Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CSPLP), Mr. Jorge Gaspar, President of Employment and Vocational Training Institute (IEFP), Ms. Mafalda Troncho, Director of the ILO Office in Lisbon, and national Portuguese authorities.
