7th Edition of the Academy on Social and Solidarity Economy
Organised by the ILO and the International Training Center of the ILO in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and Social Security and the University of Costa Rica, the 7th Academy on Social and Solidarity Economy for employment creation and promotion of local development was held in San José, Costa Rica from 21 to 25 November 2016.
It was an international event that brought together more than 150 professionals and policymakers as well as tripartite representatives from the world of work sharing knowledge, experiences and methodologies to address the new challenges of the world of work through the SSE.
The President of the Republic of Costa Rica, Luis Guillermo Solís Rivera, the First Lady, Mercedes Peñas, the President of the Legislative Assembly, Antonio Álvarez Desanti, the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Carlos Alvarado, the President of UCR, Henning Jensen and the Director of the ILO Office for Central America, Haiti and the Dominican Republic, Carmen Moreno attended the opening session of the Academy.
ILO Director-General Guy Ryder sent a welcome video to the audience highlighting that, thanks to its potential for innovation, the SSE can be a valuable tool for implementing Agenda 2030 and helping to achieve the objectives of sustainable development.
