The ITC-ILO welcomes the visit of a delegation from Afghanistan
Afghanistan joined the ILO in 1934 and is considered an Original Member of the ILO, since it joined at the time of the League of Nations.
Afghanistan’s Decent Work Country Programme has been jointly developed by the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled and the ILO Kabul Office, in close consultation with employers’ organizations and workers’ organizations. A consensus on this document was reached at a tripartite consultative workshop held on 26 February 2010 in Kabul. Its final version will be ready for the Kabul Conference on 20 July, which will discuss the Afghan Government’s priorities for implementing the Afghan National Development Strategy.
After taking part in the International Labour Conference in Geneva, a delegation headed by H. E. Ms. Amena Afzali, Minister of Labour, and Mr. Mohammad Ghaus Bashiri, Deputy Minister of Labour, will visit the ITC-ILO on 17 June.
They will discuss possible cooperation in the framework of the Decent Work Country Programme for Afghanistan, which was presented at the ILO last week.
