Another success on the ITC-ILO campus!
On Friday 6 August, the 16th Boulder Microfinance Training Programme ended on the campus of the ITC-ILO.
This, the most important world meeting on microfinance and microcredit, attracted 350 participants from 87 countries on all the continents.
Three weeks of dynamic debate and exchange with professionals from around the world allowed participants to gain additional skills and knowledge with which to enhance their performance within microfinance institutions and thereby help to meet today's challenges.
The 2006 Nobel Peace Prize winner, Mr Muhammad Yunus, has had a key role in raising awareness of the importance of microcredit and microfinance. Lasting peace cannot be achieved unless large groups of people find ways to break out of poverty. Micro-credit is one such means. It also serves to advance democracy and human rights, especially in underprivileged societies, and where women suffer poor social and economic conditions.
