Become Sustainable Entrepreneur of the Year 2014!

A collaboration has recently been established between the Centre and SEA

The Centre will work specifically in partnership with SEA on a programme of activities on sustainable and social entrepreneurship for China. As part of the proposed activities, they will jointly organize the Gala for Sustainable Entrepreneurship Award in Shanghai in 2015.

"Sustainability is in our hands" – the slogan of the Sustainable Entrepreneurship Award (SEA) - is the first international award honouring sustainable business practices. The SEA has been designed to trigger a lifestyle revolution and establish the concept of sustainable entrepreneurship as the economic model of the future. Companies are the engines of the economy, and by anchoring sustainability firmly into their core business, they can cease to be part of social and environmental problems and become part of the solution instead.

In recent years, the ILO and other UN agencies have endeavoured to promote sustainable enterprise development through different initiatives and programmes.  For example, the ILO International Labour Conference in 2007 addressed the need for sustainable development, fair globalization and the role of enterprises.  In its conclusions, it set out a programme for and provided guidance on the promotion of sustainable enterprises. The Sustainable Enterprise Programme applies to businesses of all sizes, from micro to multinational, including cooperatives and social enterprises. The programme is based on three interrelated and mutually supportive pillars: creating an enabling environment; entrepreneurship and business development in a sustainable and responsible workplace. SEA activity is in line with the ILO’s mission and values.

If you are a sustainable entrepreneur, shaping the world of today and tomorrow with innovative ideas and projects, successfully anchoring sustainable entrepreneurship in your core business, making a profit by doing so, you can apply.

Submissions are accepted until 30 April 2014. For further details and submission, please visit www.se-award.org.
