Benin’s Minister of Labour appointed while attending a Turin Centre training activity
Ms. Memouna KORA ZAKI LEADI has been appointed Minister of Labour of Benin while taking part in the course on international labour standards being held in Turin and Geneva from 20 to 31 May 2011.
The ILO’s main means of action are its international labour standards (ILS). Since it was founded in 1919, the ILO has adopted 188 Conventions and 200 Recommendations.
The current training activity is to strengthen national capacity to apply ILS and follow ILS procedures such as fulfilling the reporting obligations under the ILO Constitution.
Its specific nature attracts government officials in charge of national and international labour standards, as well as worker and employer representatives responsible for ILO matters. Many of its participants are part of their country delegations to the International Labour Conference.
However, this is the first time that a participant has been called to higher responsibilities during the course itself.
