RE-LAB project final convention
The final convention of the ”Re-Lab: start-up your business” project is taking place in Rome on 10 June.
The aim of the project, funded by the Italian Interior Ministry is to promote business ventures by people who are International Protection Holders (IPHs), providing them with skills and tools they can use to set up economic activities. The project guides people through a process of orientation and training and supports the setting up of new businesses.
The project closing convention is designed to outline the results obtained during the two-year experience. It will present guidelines drawn up after local meetings held in Milan, Trento, Turin and Catania with the aim of facilitating the paths toward business integration and independence taken by the international protection holders (IPHs) and the 14 business activities set up by the beneficiaries, through testimonials given by the fledgling Re-Lab project entrepreneurs themselves.
The 14 businesses set up by the project include three dressmakers, a bicycle repair workshop, two IT assistance and computer and mobile phone repair services, a communication company, a firm providing advice for companies who wish to invest in Africa and organizing business fairs, a shop selling ethnic food products and accessories and a business selling hair and supplies for hairdressers.
The project was managed by the Centre with the Micro-finance and Development Association non-profit organization, the Italian Council for Refugees (CIR), the Micro Progress non-profit organization and the Municipality of Venice.
