Gender champions remembered through two special fellowships
An ITCILO Gender Equality Memorial Fund has been created to honour the memory of Petra Ulshoefer and Elena Gastaldo. The purpose of the Fund is to provide full fellowships at the Gender Academy for indigenous women active in the promotion of gender equality.
For six years now, the friends of Elena Gastaldo, a young and committed colleague for whom gender equality was very high among her passions and professional interests, have been commemorating her by funding an annual special fellowship to enable an indigenous woman to attend a training course at the International Training Centre of the ILO.
At the end of 2014, the international community also lost Petra Ulshoefer, another dear friend, an outstandingly strong activist in the promotion of women’s rights and a rigorous and brilliant international civil servant.
In the spirit of continuing our friends’ commitment, and to remember them in a concrete and active way – something they would both have liked –, the gender team of the International Training Centre of the ILO has set up a Gender Equality Memorial Fund, with the intention of granting two full fellowships to enable two meritorious women to attend the forthcoming 2017 Gender Academy.
To enquire how to contribute to the Fund, or how to apply for one of the special fellowships, please write to: firstname.lastname@example.org. More information can be found at: http://www.itcilo.org/en/areas-of-expertise/gender-equality-and-diversity/news/itcilo-gender-equality-memorial-fund .
Donations will be accepted until 30 September 2017, since beneficiaries of the Fund normally need visas and travel documents, which requires early booking.
