Inauguration of the 2015 academic year at the ITCILO’s Turin School of Development (TSD)
On 27 February, the inauguration of the 2015 academic year of the Turin School of Development, was held on campus. The TSD programme comprises all the post-graduate training activities organized by the ILO’s International Training Centre in conjunction with the University and Polytechnic of Turin. The ceremony, attended by the Director General for Italians Abroad and Migration Policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Cristina Ravaglia, the Rector of the University of Turin, Prof. Gianmaria Ajani, and the Mayor of Turin, Hon. Piero Fassino, was held at the ITCILO’s “Piemonte” Conference Centre.
Over the last 20 years, with the involvement of many UN agencies, the School has gradually increased the number of post-graduate courses it offers. In 2015, it will be organizing nine masters’ courses in such subjects as international commerce, development management, intellectual property, cultural projects and world heritage, public contracts management, labour economics, and health and safety at work.
Since 1991, when the first course was organized, more than 2000 students from all parts of the world have gained a post-graduate diploma or university master’s degree here in Turin.
According to Dr. Giuseppe Casale, Director of the TSD and Deputy Director of ITCILO: “In 2015, the Turin School of Management will be engaged in developing two new masters’ courses, to broaden the already wide range of training on offer. 2016 will therefore see the start of a Master’s in Industrial Relations, delivered in conjunction with the Law Department of the University of Turin, and a Master’s in Social Security, a cooperative venture with the University’s Department of Management. This is a significant milestone for the School, which will now be training 300 post-graduate students each year.”
