Forum Theatre Workshop on Gender-Based Violence
International Women’s Day at the Centre
The UN has dedicated this year's International Women's Day to the elimination of violence against women. The problem affects women and men all over the world.
The Centre has invited staff and participants to bring the issue onto the stage in a Forum Theatre Workshop on gender-based violence. Forum theatre is a set of tools aimed at enabling individuals to express and overcome difficult situations. Once an issue has been staged, participants then try to tackle the problem and rehearse solutions, all within a safe context.
Participants in the event will have the opportunity to present on stage very simple situations which they believe give rise to gender violence. This role play will consist of collective and playful research on the roots of violence.
While campaigns often show dramatic aspects of the phenomenon, this collective workshop aims to reveal the simplest situations where violence can arise between men and women.
