LEARN FROM OUR HISTORY
In Dublin on Thursday 26 February, the 2015 Edward Phelan Lecture will be given by His Excellency Michael D. Higgins, President of Ireland. The theme of the President’s address is “The Future of Work.” The event will be attended by Mr Guy Ryder, Director-General of the ILO who will reply to the President’s address.
The Edward Phelan Lectures celebrate the life and achievements of the Irishman who was the ILO’s first official and fourth Director-General. As the Director-General stated in 2013 in the Inaugural Edward Phelan Lecture “In 1941, this Irish internationalist who organized social justice saved the ILO. This was when the ILO turned a corner. I believe that in what he did in the darkest hours of war, there is a lesson for all of us who care about peace, social justice and the institutions to deliver them” (Inaugural Edward Phelan Lecture, 14 February 2013).
The video recording of the 2015 Lecture will be available from Thursday 26 February mid-afternoon on http://media.heanet.ie/live/e4e363983a40bdea9b1e33629ee750a4
