The first destination - The path towards decent work in rural economies
A new video to help boost the rural economy
In rural Vietnam, the ILO has used an integrated approach to strengthen inland rural tourism, creating jobs and income for indigenous people, while preserving culture and traditional values.
This video was made by the Centre in cooperation with the ILO Office in Hanoi and the Regional Office in Bangkok to provide a concrete example of a possible capacity-building framework for Decent Work in rural areas, and as a contribution to one of the ILO’s eight Areas of Critical Importance (ACIs), the Rural Economy.
In the Director-General’s programme and budget proposals, the ILO has defined eight areas of critical importance for priority action in 2014/15. Each area combines work from across the ILO strategic framework. Areas are linked to the outcomes and indicators against which results will be measured.
