Safe work in a safe world

On Monday 15 October 2012, Mr Giovanni Serpelloni, Head of the Department of Anti-Drug Policies of the Presidency of the Italian Council of Ministers will open the first “SAFE WORK without DRUGS” seminar.

The “SAFE WORK without DRUGS” Project,  financed by the Department of Anti-Drug Policies of the Presidency of the Italian Council of Ministers (DPA) and entrusted to the Centre, aims to implement a pilot project intended to prevent the consumption of alcohol and drugs in the workplace.

This is based on an ILO SafeWork Educational Programme named S.O.L.V.E., an interactive educational programme designed to assist the development of policy and action to address health promotion issues in the workplace.

The main objectives of the “SAFE WORK without DRUGS” Project are:

  • to reinforce the importance of early detection of drug use in the workplace through “Workplace Drug Testing”, according to the legislation in force;

  • to develop measures to prevention consumption of drugs and alcohol, at enterprise level, through educational activities, consciousness-raising and support.

The project work-plan foresees the implementation of seminars for occupational physicians, civil servants in charge of rehabilitating those who are drug/alcohol dependent and operators of diagnostic centres.

The first three seminars will take place at the Centre on the following dates:

  • 15-16 October 2012
  • 30-31 October 2012
  • 6-7 November 2012
