With the objective to formalise their national social dialogue, many countries created national tripartite bodies, which act as a permanent forum for social partners to meet and discuss these policies.
While with the same aim of creating a permanent forum among identified shareholders in the world of work, the size and mandates of these bodies may vary from country to country. Some are only consultative, while others can reach binding agreements.
The ITC-ILO has a long-standing experience in delivering training activities aiming at promoting tripartism at national level and at strengthening tripartite committees.
During their stay in Turin, 27 members of the Palestinian Tripartite Committee for Labour Policies will be exposed to different forms of social dialogue and to successful experience of social dialogue at national level.
In addition, they will have the opportunity to discuss the role of the secretariat of tripartite bodies and the role of the labour administration in promoting harmonious industrial relations with ILO specialists and international experts.
Participants will also have the chance to work together and to draft action plans in order to operationalise the tripartite committee. The Minister of Labour of the Palestinian National Authority, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Majdalani, will attend part of the workshop.
