The Centre joins the UN International Year of Light
In 2015, the UN celebrates the International Year of Light, a global initiative which highlights the importance of light in our lives.
During the course of the year, a large number of events will take place across the world. One of these events is the M’illumino di meno – Energy Saving Day - during which citizens, companies, municipalities, schools and other organisations are requested to reduce to a minimum their energy use and to switch on a "clean" light powered by renewable sources.
This event is taking place Friday, 13th February. The most visible effect will be the symbolic "turning off" of lights at the most important monuments and in city squares. The initiative is also supported by the European Parliament and the Presidency of the Italian Republic.
On Friday, the campus is joining hundreds of public and private institutions by switching off all lighting in all common spaces of the campus i.e. open spaces, corridors, bathrooms, the bar and canteen etc., possibly for the whole day, while ensuring full compliance with safety requirements.
