One-Year Programme on Employment Policies for Afghanistan
The official opening ceremony of the one-year Training Programme on Employment Policies: Moving from fragility to resilience, tailored for Afghanistan, took place this week at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi, India.
The event is the first in a series of eight modules that will train 30 participants from the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled (MoLSAMD) of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, as well as representatives of Workers’ and Employers’ Organizations active in the country.
During the opening ceremony, participants were welcomed by Ms. Panudda Boonpala, ILO Country Director; His Excellency Ahmad Shah Salehi, Deputy Minister of Labour; Mr. G. R. Nezrabi, First Secretary in charge of the Economic Section at the Embassy of Afghanistan in India; Dr. S.K. Sasikumar, Senior Fellow at the VV Giri National Labour Institute of India; and our colleague Joel Alcocer.
H. E. Salehi shared some inspiring words, quoting Mahatma Gandhi in encouraging participants to “live as if they were to die tomorrow, and learn as if they were to live forever.”
This event was only possible thanks to the support of the ILO India Country Office and the Decent Work Team for South Asia.
