Participant in the "International Trade Law Post-graduate Course", from 24 March 2010 to 18 June 2010
In 2007, I joined Al Kamel Law, which is a prestigious law firm in Egypt as a junior associate attorney responsible for both international and domestic clients in my areas of practice including, among other fields, corporate, banking & finance, and mergers & acquisitions. For this reason, I have always been committed to devoting more time to studying international business law to develop my skills and be more qualified to defend our clients’ rights. I have done various postgraduate courses in international law to learn more about these issues and engage with students who have studied different legal systems to raise my legal awareness and achieve my career goals.
In 2010, I was accepted by the ITC-ILO to study a postgraduate international trade law course organized at the University Institute of European Studies with the participation of the University of Turin (Italy), University of Fribourg (Switzerland), Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain), United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) and International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT).
This postgraduate course, which is the most important course I have done in my life, helped me to acquire a clear basic understanding of the concept of international business law, as well as how and why it is important to unify private laws in order to improve the quality of any legal system and to avoid a conflict of laws, which in turn affects the country’s economy.
I completed this postgraduate course with an overall grade of B+; it has allowed me to be involved in advising on many major transactions including M&A and banking & finance transactions in Egypt. One of these transactions involved a complex petrochemical finance project with a total value of approximately USD4 billion.
ITC-ILO is not only a place of learning but a place for personal growth.
I am really grateful to all the team members at the ITC-ILO for all that they have done.
