Greetings from Bermuda. To say that the course on “Labour market inclusion of people with disabilities” has been extremely useful would be an understatement. I would like to thank you for your contributions.

We have been making some progress with developing policies, legislation and programmes that impact on persons with disabilities. Since October, my Office has had input in amending the Human Rights Act to include a wider definition of “disabled”. In addition, I am facilitating a cross-government taskforce that is developing a national strategy for the labour market inclusion of persons with disabilities.  Amendments are to be made to the Education Act, and this Office is to be consulted about the impact and rights of persons with disabilities.  Within the Human Rights Act, the Minister responsible has the ability to make rules. These are being developed.
