Guided by the ILO's doctrine of promoting social justice, the Centre's training and learning products on the management of development emphasize equity in sharing the benefits of economic growth at the national level.
The social dimensions of development include equity at work, safe work, freedom of association and gender concerns. These are all basic blocks in our training, alongside economic analysis and management theory and practice.
The Centre pools the resources and cutting-edge knowledge of key players in the multi-disciplinary field of development. These include the ILO, international development agencies, think tanks and academia. We are therefore well-placed to respond to the needs of our beneficiaries in real time. We specifically design projects or stand-alone courses that combine upgrading of management skills with specific knowledge in areas such as:
good governance, public sector reform and public expenditure management
project management in sectors like health, education, social security, culture, employment generation, private sector development, human rights and elimination of child labour
modernization and/or privatization of public services
community development
decentralization and the role of local government in national development
globalization and international trade agreements.
All courses make specific reference to international labour standards and the ILO's "Decent Work" agenda. We can run them in any location and can focus on upgrading individuals' skills or on group learning.
