In the making: a new training tool for labour administration.
A meeting of experts to examine a modular training package on labour administration is currently taking place in Turin (16-17 July). “Good governance of the labour market is essential for reducing poverty and promoting decent work," says Giuseppe Casale, Head of the ILO's Social Dialogue, Labour Legislation and Administration Branch.

"It is vital to sustain or enhance productivity and competitiveness, particularly in countries facing increasing pressure to open up their markets to meet the challenges of globalization. In conjunction with the 30th Anniversary of ILO Convention No. 150 on Labour Administration, the ILO and its Training Centre are launching a series of new initiatives, including a new labour administration training programme.”
“The Centre," adds Fernando Fonseca, Senior Programme Officer, "will also create a new labour administration cluster. This will allow the different training units dealing with the subject to take a more integrated approach.”
