Daniela Klein is about to sail single-handed across the Atlantic in an 83-boat regatta. Only five of the boats will be crewed by women. The regatta will start from La Rochelle (France), call in on Funchal (Madeira, Portugal) after 1,100 miles, then go on to Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, another 3,100 miles, making a total of 4,200 miles or 8,000 kilometres. Daniela will leave on 13 September. The length of her journey will depend very much on the weather. She hopes to reach Funchal in a week, and Salvador some three weeks later.
