Costing and assessing: towards nationally defined social protection floors

Recognizing the social and economic necessities of social protection in Southern Africa, and the importance of capacity building, the course has been designed to expose participants to basic costing techniques and assessment methodologies in the context of the conceptualization and formulation of nationally defined social protection floors.

Through an action-oriented participative approach, where lectures, costing exercises, discussions and group work will be combined, stakeholders will reinforce their capacities to support their countries more efficiently in the development of a comprehensive social protection strategy.

 

Target audience/s

Targeted participants were officials committed to furthering social protection with innovative practical methods and techniques, and policy makers with strong quantitative backgrounds engaged in their country’s social protection extension initiatives.

 

Modality of the activity (workshop, advisory service, capacity development project)

Five-day course on basic costing techniques and assessment methodologies in the context of the conceptualization and formulation of nationally defined social protection floors.
