Freedom of association is a universally recognized and protected human right and a core ILO value enshrined in its Constitution since 1919.

Nevertheless, there continue to be challenges in applying freedom of association, the right to organize and the right to collective bargaining all over the world. International labour standards set by the ILO, in conjunction with the work of the ILO supervisory bodies, pave the way to overcoming these difficulties and ensuring social justice in the context of globalization. |
