HIV-AIDS

Our training concerning HIV-AIDS focuses on workplace policies and programmes, prevention and social protection.  The workplace offers an entry point from which to reach young and adult populations, because nine out of ten people living with HIV are adults in their productive prime.

The ILO adopted a Recommendation (R200) on HIV/AIDS at the International Labour Conference in June 2010. The new standard strengthens and expands on the principles of the existing code of practice (2001). It provides a solid foundation for effective national workplace policies and programmes on HIV and AIDS.

Social protection systems seek to ensure the widest possible range of services: social security and insurance schemes; health care; cash transfers; disability, death and survivors' benefits; and support for those living with HIV or affected by it.

Case studies and knowledge-sharing among participants highlight the perspectives described above.  Gender considerations are in the mainstream of our training, which is held in French and in English.
