The Programme has long experience of designing and running training programmes in both developed and developing countries. Its specialists, in cooperation with relevant ILO departments (Social Dialogue, LAB/ADMIN and Sector) at headquarters and in the regions, run training in the following core areas: labour relations and social dialogue; labour legislation; labour dispute prevention and resolution; labour administration and labour inspection; and public sector management with a participatory approach.
Working closely with ILO offices and constituents, the Programme offers relevant, up-to-date, needs-based training courses in these key areas. To do so, it has produced curricula and training materials that are fine-tuned according to the needs identified and then adapted to the local context. Its participatory approach allows participants to share their knowledge and experience.
Courses are held regularly in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian. Courses in Arabic, Russian and Chinese are also held, with interpretation provided.
The Programme works closely with academia, experts’ networks, and international professional associations and organizations.
