The Social Protection Programme covers the same subjects as the Social Protection Sector of the ILO:  social security, occupational safety and health and working conditions, international labour migration and HIV-AIDS in the workplace. Over the years, it has constantly adapted to the changing times.

The staff comprises experts from all over the world in the fields of social protection and employment, social security, occupational safety and health, and international labour migration. The team speaks English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Arabic, and is experienced in organizing global, regional and national activities.

The Programme has three platforms:

1. http://socialprotection.itcilo.org: used for managing information on specific courses, before, during and after them.  It is also used for a distance learning course on social security (in Spanish);
2. http://osh.itcilo.org/: used for managing the distance learning component of the OSH postgraduate course on occupational safety and health;
3. http://migration.itcilo.org: information on labour migration

The Programme also runs e-learning courses, a post-graduate course on occupational safety and health with university accreditation, an international labour migration academy and a social security summer school.  It also bids in public tenders for capacity-building projects, by itself or as part of a corsortium.
