Who are we?
International Training Centre of the ILO
In 1965, the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Italian Government established the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITCILO) in Turin, Italy. The Centre is committed to assisting countries with their social development. Through learning and training, the Centre develops human resources and institutional capacity in pursuit of the ILO's primary goal of decent work for all men and women.
To assist countries with their social and economic development, besides training proper, the Centre provides technical support and advisory services. It assembles, packages and disseminates the best thinking and practice concerning the world of work from the ILO and elsewhere.
Over the years, more that 150,000 participants from 172 countries have received training in one of the following areas:
- international labour standards and human rights
- employment and skills development
- enterprise development
- social protection
- employers' activities
- workers' activities
- social dialogue
- management of development
- distance education and learning technology.

The Social Protection Programme promotes the ILO strategic objective of enhancing the coverage and effectiveness of social protection for all through capacity-building. It offers different training programmes on:
- formal social security schemes
- the extension of social protection
- migrant workers
- HIV/AIDS in the world of work
- occupational safety and health (OSH).
The OSH training courses (both in Turin and in beneficiary countries) for institutional representatives are mainly on:
- formulating national OSH policy and strategies
- strengthening national government departments
- developing employers and workers organizations' OSH capacity.
Through this partnership with the University of Turin, we hope to create new learning opportunities for OSH practitioners.
