Master in Public Procurement Management for Sustainable Development

This programme is unique in its comprehensive coverage of the four pillars needed for effective operation of national public procurement systems as defined by the OECD. The learning content is multidisciplinary, ranging from international legal obligations to economic theory foundations of PP. New and evolving topics in public procurement are also explored: sustainable procurement, e-procurement and public-private partnerships. Emphasis is placed on practical work and case studies related to planning, market research functions as well as in managing the overall spectrum of tendering and contract management activities. This master incorporates a module on soft skills designed to enhance participants' interpersonal skills, especially in contract negotiations and conflict resolution. Professional codes of conduct are explored as well as systems for prevention and detection of fraud/corruption.

Time, language and venue

The programme is held in English.

The twelfth Master's edition 2017/2018 will start on 09 October 2017. It has three parts, with the following timetable:

  • The first part consists of distance learning over the Internet: it starts on 09 October 2017 and ends on 26 January 2018
  • The second part consists of face-to-face learning. It is residential: lessons will be held in Turin at the ITC-ILO campus from 29 January 2018 until 01 June 2018. Attendance of classes is compulsory.
  • The third part is the preparation and submission of a final dissertation: the outline of the dissertation is to be presented in Turin by 01 June 2018 and it is to be completed by 05 October 2018.

 

Students who pass the prescribed examinations will be awarded a first level Master from the University of Turin.

 

The programme will be held in Turin, Italy, at the International Training Centre of the ILO. Its campus and facilities provide an ideal environment for living and studying, sharing experience, learning from one other and creating networks.
