The overall goal of this course is to provide participants with the technical tools for designing and managing programmes that use a market systems development approach (MSD) to generate jobs and improve incomes and job quality. The topics covered include the rationale for using MSD to promote decent work, ways of designing high-level theories of change and results chains using the MSD approach, tools and outcome-level indicators for measuring job creation and job quality, and communication strategies for market-system development programmes.
The course is designed for practitioners involved in the design and management of development cooperation programmes and project portfolios in the areas of private-sector development, economic development, livelihoods, inclusive growth and job creation. It targets staff working at headquarters, as well as in regional and country offices, donor agencies, international organizations and NGOs.
