Trade union training: Policies and strategies for ending violence and harassment in the world of work (blended)

Africa¿Regional Digital Workers' Academy on Trade Union Policies, Practices, and Campaigns on Eliminating Violence and Harassment in the World of Work

9 November–4 December 2020
The course is available in English, Français, Português

Violence and harassment in the world of work are global problems requiring global solutions. No sector, whether formal or informal, public, private or voluntary, is untouched by incidences of violence and harassment. While women are overwhelmingly and disproportionately affected, men are not immune. Higher rates of violence and harassment are reported in both highly visible, powerful industries and in marginalized sectors often invisible to public scrutiny. In June 2019, the ILC adopted the first global treaties to end violence and harassment in the world of work. Trade unions played a key role in campaigning for these global instruments. Women played an important part in the ILO consultation processes and will be influential in the long- term implementation of the standards. This course aims to improve the capacities of trade unions to understand and exploit the new instruments. Participants will develop the ability to utilize the content of the new Convention 190 and its Recommendation 206 as guidelines for sub-regional and national actions addressing harassment and violence in the world of work.
