Introduction to the course

The Winter Online Global Youth Forum is a two-week immersive experience, consisting of live sessions, group activities, knowledge-sharing and remote networking gatherings. The aim of the Forum is to explore the critical role that young people can play in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Participants will also engage in constructive debates on youth participation in achieving the SDGs and in practical workshops on how to support achievement of the Goals in their local communities. The Forum will include a "Youth Leadership Lab", with international trainers and coaches to help participants to unleash their potential and develop their soft skills to bring about change. The initiative will also provide an opportunity for participants to meet and establish contacts with youth leaders, heads of UN entities, international NGOs, businesses and other key stakeholders working on the SDGs.

This course is for young professionals who are interested in international development, decent work, and human rights. We invite students, recent graduates, and junior professionals to apply.

  • The work of UN agencies, International NGOs, Civil society and Private sector in a changing world
  • How the UN Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth aims to improve young peoples’ livelihoods
  • Youth leadership and how young people can engage in and influence the international agenda and contribute to sustainable development
  • Participation of vulnerable groups, including vulnerable youth in inclusive development
  • Leadership and soft skills, including tips for career development to translate aspirations into actions.

Course structure

The two-week Forum involves 30 learning hours

Week 1: 15 hours, 25 to 31 January

The 1st week will include: (i) sessions on the UN Sustainable Development Agenda and SDGs; (ii) discussions with international experts from the UN System, Private sector, International NGOs and Civil Society; (iii) practical workshops on how to create innovative solutions to include vulnerable groups to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Agenda.

Week 2: 15 hours, 1 to 5 February

The 2nd week will include: (i) the Leadership and Skills Lab, where international coaches will you unleash your potential and develop your soft skills; and (ii) exchanges with young leaders and professionals that can inspire you.
