This course deals with the topic of open education and open learning. In a nutshell, the course explores theoretical and applied issues related to how the internet and networking technologies have enabled new learning models mediated by digital resources. For learners, Open Education offers an alternative path for education, competence development and professionalization beyond the traditional borders of educational institutions. Learners enter and engage in open educational practices in order to meet, network and collaborate with peers to work, learn and innovate. The course draws on theories of situated and networked learning and provides an overview of the different design and evaluation challenges for open learning contexts. The course consist of activities that aim to help learners to build a theoretical foundation, provide instruments for empirical analysis of open education and last but not least introduces the current research challenges and the state of the art on open education. From a more applied perspective, participants are also introduced to the topic of open licensing and sharing of learning resources.

Format and Methodology
The course is part of the Online Diploma Programme scheduled between 30 April and 2 December 2018. The course consists of four micro-modules presenting technology-enhanced learning concepts and tools. It is carried out over a 4-week period following the learning process described below:
Participants are required to adapt content and tools to their context. The course combines individual self-directed learning with collaborative activities such as peer-reviews and discussion groups to facilitate learning. A team of online tutors and experts guides participants through their learning experience, including facilitating collaborative work and providing feedback on assignments throughout the course.

You can decide either to enrol in a single course (go to Apply) or to pursue the full online Diploma Programme, which is composed by four courses (contact).
By completing the Programme, you will receive a Certificate in Innovative Learning Interventions outlining the marks and achievements acquired in each course.
Single course fee: 940 EUR
This is the fee per course applied to learners who are enrolling to up to three online courses of the online Diploma Programme. This fee option is convenient to those who are not interested in pursuing the full Programme.
