The course’s ultimate objective is to support the design and implementation of youth employment programmes, by incorporating rigorous monitoring and evaluation (M&E) plans. In particular, the course will impart the competencies needed to make informed decisions about how to best measure and evaluate the results of interventions that aim at promoting decent jobs for young women and men. A wide range of evaluation methods will be covered and a special emphasis will be given to impact evaluation methods.
Upon participation, it is expected that participants:
• Have improved or updated their comprehension of concepts and methods of evaluation of youth employment programmes
• Are in a position to identify the most pertinent type of evaluation with regards to the specific programme
context (institution and national) and within budget, time and data constraints
• Are able to design a M&E plan for youth employment programmes and projects
• Are able to apply basic quantitative evaluation techniques.
