Communicating labour rights
The residential phase of a training activity for media professionals on communicating labour rights will take place from 21 to 23 August 2017 in Livingstone, Zambia.
This training course is jointly organized and implemented by the Centre and the ILO Country Office for Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique (CO Lusaka), and is aimed at selected countries from the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
The course has a highly participatory and practical approach with full involvement by the 23 participants from Botswana, Mozambique, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, all working with different types of media. In addition to sharing experiences on labour and social reporting, participants will be exposed to international labour standards and their relevance to the media. As part of the training, each participant will be asked to develop a news story on labour issues relevant to the national context.
The training course will be opened by the President of the Zambia Union of Journalists.
