Delivering as one, and researching as … the EU
ITC-ILO official Alessandra Molz has been seconded to CEDEFOP for six months. The Centre has already exchanged staff with other international institutions, but this is the first time that CEDEFOP has established synergy with a UN organization.
CEDEFOP is the “European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training”. It is based in Thessaloniki, Greece, from where it helps to promote and develop vocational education and training in the European Union. In cooperation with the European Commission, it supports the development of lifelong vocational guidance in Member States and monitors and assesses trends and policy developments related to VET (vocational education and training) teachers and trainers, ageing workers and adult learning. CEDEFOP also coordinates a study visits programme for education and vocational training specialists, thereby supporting European cooperation and policy development concerning lifelong learning.
Alessandra’s work at the ILO International Training Centre focuses on the design and delivery of adult learning programmes, with special reference to social inclusion through skills development. At CEDEFOP, she is contributing to its Policy Report, which will review achievements by European Union countries in making their vocational training systems transparent.
Both organizations will benefit from this assignment in terms of mutual professional understanding. In addition, Alessandra will enrich her knowledge of EU policy and practice concerning VET, which will be fed into future ITC-ILO training activities on VET.
