Gender and employment
As part of the “More and Better Jobs for Women: Women’s Empowerment through Decent Work in Turkey” project, the Centre held a training meeting on gender and employment on 11 to 14 November in Abant, Turkey.
The project is jointly implemented by the ILO and the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR), with the financial contribution of Sweden through the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
As a follow up to the first training meeting on the same subject held in Turin, the workshop in Abant aimed to provide the National Technical Team (NTT) with a more in-depth analysis of women’s employment in Turkey and to familiarise them with good practices in the areas of non-discrimination, reconciliation of work and family life, and active labour market policies in the country.
The meeting’s key issues and methodologies will also assist the team to prepare Turkey’s first National Action Plan on women’s employment.
High level officials from İŞKUR, representatives from the ILO Turkey office as well as Turkish academics and ILO experts participated in this meeting.
