Human dignity means decent working conditions
On 26 October 2015, a conference on “Si può chiamare lavoro? Sfruttamento e nuove schiavitù nell’Unione Europea” (1) will be held on campus.
Worker exploitation is not an isolated or marginal phenomenon. Unlawful working conditions, low or non-existent wages, and serious exploitation of workers are a worrying and widespread reality. The victims of this phenomenon are workers who do not enjoy their fundamental rights.
The Italian Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Giuliano Poletti, will address these issues with the President of the Regional Council of Piedmont, Mauro Laus, the Centre’s Deputy Director, Giuseppe Casale, and other international experts during the Conference, organised by the Centre in collaboration with the Piedmont Regional Council, the Regional Committee for Human Rights, and the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights.
During the Conference, the Centre is hosting the exhibition “So we exist” by Bangladeshi photojournalist Ismail Ferdous.
