Collaboration ILO/ITCILO on fair recruitment
In the context of the ILO Fair Recruitment Initiative, the Centre and the ILO (RE-FRAME) project (Global Action to Improve the Recruitment Framework of Labour Migration) are producing a series of videos to raise awareness on fostering fair recruitment practices.
The videos are based on the ILO General Principles and Operational Guidelines for Fair Recruitment (adopted in 2016), which provide information on the current and future work of the ILO and other organizations, national legislatures and social partners in promoting and ensuring fair recruitment. These principles and guidelines are based on several sources, including international labour standards and ILO instruments.
The RE-FRAME project aims to prevent and reduce abusive and fraudulent recruitment practices, and maximize the protection of migrant workers and their contribution to development, in the following ways:
- developing and testing fair recruitment pilot interventions across migration corridors;
- enhancing the capacities of social partners, business, civil society organizations and the media, and providing them with tools to deliver better information and services to migrant workers throughout the recruitment process;
- producing and disseminating global knowledge about fair recruitment.
In conjunction with the RE-FRAME project, in 2017 the Centre ran a global training course on fair recruitment involving 45 participants from all continents, including RE-FRAME project target countries. The course will be held again in 2018, from 1 to 5 October, and will be delivered in English and Arabic.
