The Centre launches a Portuguese edition of a guide on the governance of social security systems in Africa
The book "Governance of Social Security Systems: a Guide for Board Members in Africa" was first published in 2010 in English and French under the ILO QUATRAIN AFRICA project, which seeks to reinforce the financial governance of African social protection systems.
The Centre has now adapted and published a Portuguese edition of the Guide under the Programme for Training and Capacity Building to Extend Social Protection in Portuguese-speaking African countries, funded by the Portuguese Ministry for Solidarity and Social Security.
Together with the ILO STEP Portugal project, the Centre has revised, updated and improved the Guide by introducing case studies and examples of social security schemes and institutions in Portuguese-speaking countries: Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé e Príncipe and Timor-Leste.
The Guide is designed to help staff who oversee and manage African social protection systems to gain a better understanding of the duties they are required to carry out.
