Success story: Focus on migration
Valérie Françoise Motio Kamga, a former Turin Centre participant, is President of the “Donne Migranti Internazionali Onlus” Association
Valérie took part in the "International labour migration" course in October 2010 and in the "Fostering the social and professional reintegration of return migrants" course in December of the same year.
Cameroonian by nationality, Valérie has lived in Italy for 27 years. She graduated in Turin, and went on to complete two Master’s degrees. She then worked behind the counter of a Turin pharmacy for a long period, which gave her “the means to understand the hard aspects of immigration”.
She is now the President of Donne Migranti Internazionali Onlus, a Turin-based association of women with experience of migration.
“I started to think about this association for the health of migrant women. Health has yet to become a universal concept. Good health, seen as physical and social wellbeing, is not common for foreign women. In addition, prevention is unknown to them. I wish to give voice to women who cannot be heard. We want to network with other groups to disseminate information services for migrant women.”
Congratulations, Valérie, and keep at it! You are making a difference!
