The Centre increasingly involved in Private Sector Development in Fragile Settings

From 23 to 27 April 2018, the Centre will be running a new course on Private Sector Development in Fragile Settings through Value Chains. Supported by the ILO office in New Delhi, and organized in conjunction with the VV Giri National Labour Institute of India, the course has been especially designed for the staff of the Office of the Chief Executive of the Government of Afghanistan.

During this five-day training course in New Delhi, participants will apply the principles and phases of Value Chain Development for decent work in situations of fragility: sector selection, value-chain analysis, intervention design, and implementation. They will contribute to the design and implementation of market-driven value-chain development projects using a participatory approach, learning the techniques of market systems facilitation and the differences between facilitation and direct delivery (as well as their respective benefits). VV Giri staff will share case studies and lessons learned in the Indian context.

The course builds on the ITCILO's expertise in delivering training courses geared to situations of fragility. It will benefit from the experience of the ITCILO’s Fragile States Desk, which has been working in Afghanistan with Afghan constituents as part of the "Promoting Rural Youth Employment in Afghanistan through Entrepreneurship Education and Vocational Training" project.

The organizers would like to thank the Norwegian Government, SIDA, the Department for International Cooperation of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the British Department for International Development’s Harakat Programme for helping to make this event possible.
