A new ITCILO training activity on Leadership for Development in Fragile Settings
This new programme is taking place in New Delhi from 25 to 29 June 2018.
High-quality leadership is essential to bring transformation, whatever the setting and leadership development is not just a matter of tools and models, but also of commitment to inner growth and change that transforms teams, organizations, institutions and countries.
This one-week programme is designed to provide an understanding of contemporary and classic leadership models and how to put them into action. The training is based on the “Situational Leadership” model developed by Tannenbaum & Schmidt, tailored for fragile settings. The key factor is the combination of personal commitment and clarity with tools and practical approaches to applying the learning.
The programme is designed to be dynamic and challenging, as well as enjoyable. The end goal is to contribute to the quality of leadership by providing opportunities for established and emerging leaders to develop and grow.
By the end of the programme, participants should have:
- gained insights into what constitutes effective leadership;
- identified their personal leadership models;
- reflected on how to inspire and motivate others;
- practised a range of influencing styles;
- developed their leadership development pathway
The training methods include short lectures and taught sessions, small group work, case studies, role plays, presentations and individual reflections.
The course is part of the tailor-made portfolio of the Fragile States Desk at the ITCILO, which can be consulted at the following link: https://fragilestates.itcilo.org/training-opportunity-list/
