New research reports on reintegration policies and mechanisms in Morocco and Tunisia
As part of the SURE project (Promoting the social and professional reintegration of migrants returning to North Africa), the ITC-ILO in collaboration with FIERI (Forum Internazionale ed Europeo di Ricerche sull'Immigrazione) has published three new research papers on return migration and social and professional reintegration mechanisms in Morocco and Tunisia.
The national studies are intended to map returning migrant populations in the two countries, based on the available data, and to prepare a report on the mechanisms, programmes and services that exist as concerns social and professional reintegration. The comparative report is intended to compare the strategies of the two countries on return and reintegration policies for migrant citizens to analyse their strengths, weaknesses and shortcomings, as well as to assess them. In conclusion, a certain number of ad hoc recommendations have been made to support the strengthening of existing initiatives and drawing up stronger reintegration programmes, allowing returning migrants to contribute as fully as possible to the sustainable development of their return communities.
