On 4-6 September, the third and final workshop of the Employers' Young Professional Academy (EYPA) took place at the International Training Centre of the ILO in Turin.
The meeting addressed the role of business member organisations as employers, their mandate to engage in social dialogue and negotiate agreements with the trade unions.
The 30 young professionals, coming from employers’ organisations across Europe and returning to Turin for the third time, had the chance to learn about different systems of industrial relations with the Eurofound, and they could get first-hand knowledge from BusinessEurope and the European Trade Unions Confederation (ETUC) about the role of the EU social partners, their achievement and activities as part of the EU work programme.
The participants also learned how to improve their negotiation skills from experienced negotiators from Ibec (Irish business) and had the chance to practice and apply them in the real-life simulation of EU social dialogue.
This meeting concluded the 6th edition of the EYPA, which was implemented in partnership with BusinessEurope and co-funded by the European Union. The ITCILO has applied for a grant from the EU to be able to hold another edition of the Academy.
