Strengthening the Capacity of Employers’ Organisations in FYR Macedonia
A significant Social Dialogue project is currently being implemented by the ILO in FYR Macedonia, benefiting from funding of the European Commission. In order to ensure that Macedonian Employers’ Organizations can participate more effectively in Social Dialogue; one part of the project is strengthening the capacity of EOs. The Programme for Employers’ Activities of ITC ILO supported a workshop on 19th May 2015 in Skopje, FYR Macedonia. The two represented Employers’ Organizations in Macedonia already provided a National Business Agenda including two concrete proposals to enhance the business environment.
On that basis, the one-day training aimed at answering the question on how to move forward in a more concrete way.
During the training the 20 participants were engaged in various group exercises on developing a short term agenda or learning how to maximise and improve their representativeness among their members with the help of alliance building. They also learned about the key advantages on Social Dialogue in order to built additional pressure on the decision makers to maximise their policy influence.
Knowledge about the issue, knowledge about the process, and knowledge about the necessary legislation or policies are as crucial as having clear key messages and selecting appropriate communication channels and the right time in order to effectively convince the decision makers.
All these steps are necessary to achieve a lasting change in the business environment.
In order to reach a sustainable success - the EU funded project will further sustain the action plans of the two EOs which were convened during the training.
