Cooperation is of vital importanve if multi-stakeholder partnerships are to fulfil their development goals. The objective of this course is to re-think partnership and enhance the capacities of different partners in fostering enterprise development and access to finance. The course is designed to build shared knowledge for intentional, equitable and effective partnerships

Groupes cibles

This course is designed for those currently working in a multi-stakeholder environment and whose work could be enhanced by intentional collaboration and partnerships. Ideally, the course will involve participants with a variety of stakeholder perspectives: ILO staff, project officers, other UN agency staff, private-sector operators, funders, government, international agencies, and civil society organizations involved in projects and activities advancing enterprises and access to finance.

What will I learn?

The objective of this course is to re-imagine partnership and to enhance

capacity to collaborate across differences for financial inclusion and enterprise development.The course has four specific objectives:

  • Gain a greater understanding of the complexities and principals involved with multi-sector and multiple-actor collaboration and working in partnerships;
  • Develop skills required for designing, assessing, managing, facilitating and negotiating in multi-party stakeholder settings to advance enterprise development and financial inclusion
  • Learn lessons from real multi-stakeholder situations including your own;
  • Build a partnership framework to analyze potential partners, develop strategies to strengthen partnerships.
Course framework

The e-learning course will be implemented over a period of approximately 5 weeks and is structured around 5 content modules with activities and assignments.

An equivalent of 1 day of learning is planned in each week. Each week will have two live webinars that will be recorded and available until end of the course.

  • Week 1, 21 June – 25 June: Module 1: Introduction. Partnerships and their role in sustainable development.
  • Week 2, 28 June – 2 July: Module 2: Partnership spectrum and typology
  • Week 3, 5 July – 9 July: Module 3: In focus: selected types of partnerships in the enterprise development and financial inclusion
  • Week 4, 12 July  – 16 July: Module 4: Tools and Resources for designing partnerships. Multi-stakeholder negotiations.
  • Week 5, 19 July – 23 July: Module 5: Managing partnerships. End of course activities and action planning
Course delivery format

Each of the five learning modules of the course includes the following components:

  • 1st live session of the week, with the group and ITC ILO trainer and/or invited speakers
  • 2nd live session of the week
  • Individual self-learning, activities and assignments, as well as group activities when possible

Each session’s duration is 1 hour 30 min, they will be delivered via zoom. The sessions are interactive and facilitated, with an application of adult learning methodologies.

Sessions will take place on Tuesday and Thursdays of the week, unless otherwise agreed. The schedule will be adapted to the group composition and timezones. In case of conflicting timezones the default timezone will be CET or CEST Rome time.


Upon completion of the course, participants receive a certificate of attendance.
