This course, which is part of the Diploma of Advanced Studies on Skills Development, jointly organized by the ITCILO and the Swiss Federal University of Vocational Education and Training, is intended for managers and trainers of TVET centres, and other professionals responsible for skills development, to enable them to develop their capacity to digitize their training systems in a systemic and sustainable way, with an emphasis on hybrid learning solutions. The impact of this training will be to enhance the efficiency and quality of TVET systems in the short and long term in disseminating blended learning as part of a modern approach to TVET.

The target audience for this training pathway will be, primarily but not exclusively, professionals in developing or emerging countries whose work relates to skills development and TVET systems, or who have experience in this field, in roles such as:
- Pedagogical staff of TVET trainers' training centres;
- Designers of instructional programmes, instructional and management staff of national training authorities.
- TVET teachers and trainers, in-company trainers and mentors;
- Managers of vocational training centres;
- Experts and technical staff from CSOs, NGOs, and other civil society actors working in TVET.
What topics does this course cover?
This training aims to create a core group of qualified professionals within different organizations and entities, who will then act as multipliers to lead and support the digital transformation process in their TVET system, and will cover in particular the following topics:
- Overview and state of play of the digitalization of the main devices within the technical and vocational training and skills systems
- Definition of digital and inclusive training strategies
- Decomposition of skills repositories and digitalization of curricula
- Methodologies and multimodal pedagogical approaches focused on the learner
- Main technological solutions / technologies for the digitalization of TVET (including Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality).
What will I learn?
During the distance learning phase, participants will have the opportunity to become familiar with the key concepts and definitions of:
- Digitalization of TVET
- The ILO’s digitalization reference framework
- Processes and stages of hybridization of training devices.
During the face-to-face phase, participants will delve into the key steps in the process of digitizing TVET devices by working collaboratively on concrete case studies, while being directly exposed to the trends and opportunities that digitalization of TVET can offer.
What will I be able to do?
At the end of this training, participants will be connected to a global network of skills development professionals and will be able to:
- Define effective hybridization strategies in the process of digitizing TVET offerings in their industry/sector;
- Establish effective, accessible and inclusive hybrid pedagogical and educational approaches to develop digital competencies for TVET personnel;
- Develop sustainable digital skills to design hybrid vocational training devices, assessment tools and certification packages through VAE.
