Rapid urbanization and increased mobility have created opportunities and challenges alike in the field of migration. More than half of the world’s population now lives in urban areas, which poses contemporary consequences for local and regional authorities. This course helps participants harness the development-related potential of new migrants, as well as provide adequate services and protection for them to succeed.

The aim of this course is to foster understanding of the linkages between migration and development at the international, national and local levels, and their contextualisation of local realities.

The course is designed for officials and civil servants working with local authorities and administrations; officials from public institutions involved in development and migration policies; representatives of civil society, including NGOs and migrant associations; social partners and academia.
